The PPF rate is set by the government each quarter (7.1% as of 2025). The account matures in 15 years and can be extended in blocks of 5 years. Interest is fully tax-free (EEE).

FAQ

How much can I put in PPF?
Between ₹500 and ₹1,50,000 per financial year. Deposits above ₹1.5 lakh earn no interest and aren't eligible for deduction.
Is PPF tax-free?
Yes — it's EEE: the deposit qualifies for 80C deduction, the interest is tax-free, and the maturity amount is tax-free.
