Most Indian banks compound fixed deposits quarterly. Figures are before TDS — interest above ₹40,000 a year (₹50,000 for senior citizens) is subject to 10% TDS if PAN is provided.

- Is FD interest taxable?
- Yes. FD interest is added to your income and taxed at your slab rate. Banks deduct 10% TDS if interest across the bank exceeds ₹40,000 in a year (₹50,000 for senior citizens) and you've given your PAN.
