Tips for an Indian résumé
- One page for under ~8 years of experience; two pages is fine beyond that. A CV (academic) can run longer.
- Put your strongest, most recent role first. Lead each bullet with a verb — “Built”, “Led”, “Cut”, “Shipped”.
- Quantify: “reduced load time by 43%”, “handled 120k orders/day”. Numbers beat adjectives.
- Skip photo, age, marital status and full address on a job résumé (they’re expected on a bio-data, not a résumé).
- For portal applications, use the ATS Plain template and save as PDF — not a screenshot.
FAQ
- Is it really free, and do I need an account?
- Yes, completely free with no sign-up. Everything runs in your browser — your details are saved only in this browser's local storage and are never uploaded to a server.
- How do I get a PDF?
- Click “Download PDF”. In the print dialog choose “Save as PDF” as the destination and set margins to “None” for an edge-to-edge A4 page. The text stays selectable and ATS-readable.
- Which template is best for job applications in India?
- For most roles, pick “Mumbai”, “Delhi” or “Corporate”. If you're applying through a big company's online portal, use “ATS Plain” — it has no columns or graphics, so applicant-tracking software parses it cleanly.
- What is a bio-data and how is it different from a résumé?
- A bio-data is the format commonly used in India for marriage proposals and some government applications. It lists personal details (date of birth, height, caste/gotra, family details) alongside education and job. Choose one of the three bio-data templates and the editor switches to those fields.
- Can AI help write my summary and bullet points?
- If the site operator has connected an AI key, an “Improve with AI” button appears on the summary and on each experience block. It rewrites your rough notes into tighter, quantified lines using a free model. It's optional and rate-limited.
